Good Grief, Jerry [Goliath] Lenthall

.
As my dear departed Father used to say, "Jiminy Christmas! What's goin' on?"

That's just what he'd say if he'd read King Harris' column in the SLO City News (15-20 Nov 07) regarding Adam Hill's venture into local politics. It seems that Adam [David] Hill has decided to take on Jerry [Goliath] Lenthall for District 3 on the County Board of Supervisors. As I live in District 3, that got my interest.

OK, those kinds of things happen all the time, and in this day and age, the big guy (with money) usually wins, and no one will deny that Jerry is a big guy (with money). For those of you who haven't met Adam, he isn't.

Now I enjoy a fair fight as well as the next guy, but if King is correct, this isn't shaping up to be a fair fight -- not by a long shot. Seems that Jerry (and, I suppose, his pals) got some fancy Sacramento lawyer to dig up everything at Cal Poly (where Adam is an English professor) that has Adam's name on it (ranging from personnel files to e-mails). Apparently, not satisfied with what they found, they then went after whatever the Cal Poly Police might have.

Not having been born yesterday and having just returned from our Nation's Capitol (that crawls with assorted political low-life), this smacks of opposition research of the worst kind. This is for a seat on the County Board of Supervisors for goodness sakes. And we have a candidate (the incumbent, no less) apparently hiring a lawyer from our own state's political cesspool to dig up the dirt on a university English professor?

What on earth is Jerry afraid of? Are the stories of his connections with developers true?
